Multi-Algorithm Trilateration System

DONAGH HORGAN, MICHAEL CRONIN, JAMES HURLEY, GRAHAM BAITSON
FILED JANUARY 30TH, 2020

An illustrative embodiment disclosed herein is a system including client devices distributed across an environment and configured to generate distance measurements. The system further includes wireless transceivers. Each transceiver is associated with one of the client devices. Each transceiver is configured to send and receive distance measurements. The system further includes a trilateration circuit in at least one of the client devices. The trilateration circuit is configured to receive the distance measurements from the client devices, determine a first position and a first weight based on the distance measurements via a first algorithm, determine second position and a second weight based on the second distance measurements via a second algorithm, calculate a final position based on the first position, the second position, the first weight, and the second weight, and send the final position to the plurality of client devices.

Adaptive inter-ranging network

JAMES HURLEY, MICHAEL CRONIN, DONAGH HORGAN, GRAHAM BAITSON
ISSUED MAY 21ST, 2019

An illustrative embodiment disclosed herein is a network of a plurality of node devices distributed across an environment. The network includes a first local group of first node devices, a second local group of second node devices, and a new node device. The new node device is configured to join the first local group, identify the first node timeslot associated with the new node device, range to each of the first node devices during the first node timeslot associated with the new node device, collect ranging data from each of the first node devices during the first node timeslot associated with the new node device, calculate a plurality of range values based on the ranging data, and send the plurality of range values to each of the second node devices during the first node timeslot associated with the new node device.

System and method for aiding with reporting an emergency and subsequent evacuation procedures

GRAHAM BAITSON, SARAH O'CONNELL, GLENN FITZPATRICK, DENIS CANTY, DONAGH HORGAN, JAMES HURLEY, MICHAEL CRONIN
ISSUED NOVEMBER 8TH, 2018

A system and method aimed to assist with the reporting of an emergency (e.g., a fire) and subsequently thereto, if required, to assist with the evacuation process is disclosed. The system and method of the present disclosure uses an internet enabled device (e.g., a smartphone) to run an APP to assist and/or supplement in the reporting or notifying of a fire in a building and subsequently to assist with the evacuation of the occupants. The system and method of the present disclosure may assist occupants in quickly notifying others of an emergency (e.g., fire) by enabling them to use their smartphone to report a dangerous situation. In addition, the system and method may utilize real-time location tracking services to provide additional information on the location of a fire and building occupants.
